Author, Advocate, Storyteller, Critic
PONI (Parent of Neurodiverse Individual)
is the Host of Autism Live, the #1 Rated Autism Podcast, and the author of Autism: Parent to Parent.
Shannon was born in Puerto Rico but grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY. She received her BA from Oswego State University and her MFA from the National Theatre Conservatory. She spent 2 decades working in theatre and performing arts as a performer, a director, a producer and an educator.
Then she had a child, a child who appeared to be developing typically…and then wasn’t. Shannon’s son was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2 1/2. All the challenges in her life changed and she changed with them. She got on her knees and prayed, “Please don’t let me mess this up! Please show me what to do and how to be there for my child, and I promise I will share whatever I find.” Her son is now a college sophomore, on the Dean’s List with no supports. Shannon spends her time sharing resources, shortcuts, supports and ways to keep going.
Check out Shannon’s new book and tune in to watch her on The Autism Network on Autism Live, Ask Dr. Doreen and Let’s Talk either Autism, Movies, Self-Care or ALL THE THINGS.
